Opioid Crisis
Having witnessed the tragedy of Opioid addiction in his own extended family, Rep. Setzler in his role as Subcommittee Chairman, coordinated the passage of Senate Bill 36 in 2011, the state’s first ever Prescription Drug Monitoring Program database. This PDMP database allows doctors and pharmacists to centrally track prescriptions of opioids and other addictive drugs to end the scourge of “pill mills” and ensure that patients cannot skip from doctor to doctor to obtain unlimited quantities of prescription medications.
In 2016, Ed supported the passage of a drug overdose reporters act that gave limited amnesty to persons who report drug overdoses.
